data safe // color safe
data safe // color safe
A good DIT requires both a fundamental understanding of color and technology. Keeping data safe, recovering lost or corrupt data, and creating looks for the camera are just a few of the things I bring to set.
As a DIT, one of the things I bring to set is an intimate knowledge of post workflow. On complicated projects I like to communicate directly with the editor and compositor to know exactly what codec they need and what file structure works for them. Every project can have a unique workflow, an I try to assist in creating the workflow best suited for the project.
I have worked on three different features from beginning to end. On these sets I managed data in a safe and secure way, created a one light for the incoming footage, and generated dailies for producers who were often times in another state.
Chris Hackett has been working in the Portland production and post-production fields since 2010. He's crewed five feature films, colored a feature documentary and a local television show, composited on many web and broadcast commercials, and contributed to the third season of Grimm. He has an amazing understanding of production from set to post.
